So I took part in the 2M UKAC again last night. I wasn’t expecting much as I was going to use the collinear on the side of the house but at 17:30 I decided to go outside and put up the 2M beam that I had just acquired through a swap.
I didn’t realise just how big this thing was. About 4.5M long! After around 20 minutes, I had the beam assembled and up in the air on a temporary 20′ mast.
The result? 10 contacts with the furthest being 198 miles away. That’s a big improvment that my 3 contacts for the Feb contest.
Next month I’m going portable but maybe with a smaller beam!
